Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Elected as Namibia’s First Female President

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has made history by becoming Namibia’s first female president, winning the election with 58.1% of the votes. Previously the Vice President, Nandi-Ndaitwah plans to address youth unemployment and invest in green energy and infrastructure during her five-year term. The ruling SWAPO party maintains a parliamentary majority, despite opposition disputes regarding the election results. The outcome is significant for Germany, which seeks to import green hydrogen from Namibia and hopes for continuity in negotiations regarding reparations for historical injustices.
