Neuenburg Set to Vote on Constitutional Right to Digital Integrity

On November 24, Neuenburg’s residents will decide on a proposed constitutional amendment to safeguard citizens’ digital integrity, receiving support from all parties except the FDP. Digital integrity aims to protect individuals from data misuse, ensure internet security, and uphold the right to be forgotten. Advocates also seek the assurance of an offline existence and access to human interaction in administrative matters. While the amendment passed through the Grand Council, critics argue its impact is largely symbolic, as it cannot regulate private or corporate data practices, which falls under federal jurisdiction.
