New Caledonia Eases Curfew Amid Improving Security Conditions

Starting Monday, the curfew in New Caledonia will shift to midnight to 5 a.m., following a period of unrest that resulted in 13 fatalities and significant material damage. Initially imposed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., the curfew has been gradually relaxed, reflecting an improvement in security conditions. The updated restrictions will remain in place until November 18, when the situation will be reassessed. Additionally, regulations around alcohol sales have been loosened, while bans on firearms and fuel transportation persist, alongside limitations on gatherings in the capital, Nouméa.
