New Outbreaks of Livestock Diseases Prompt Extended Measures in Greece

Recent cases of sheep and goat pox have emerged in Eastern Macedonia-Thrace and Thessaly, alongside a reported outbreak of sheep plague in Western Greece. In the last week, ten new outbreaks were confirmed in Rhodope, with a total of nearly 150 cases across the regions. The Greek Ministry of Rural Development has extended preventive measures until November 15, mandating strict guidelines for animal movements and slaughter. As the situation evolves, authorities will reassess epidemiological data and implement targeted actions to control the diseases.
