Over the past ten years, 742 new animal and plant species have been discovered in the Congo Basin, according to a report by the World Wildlife Fund (WNF). This region, which spans several Central African countries, is the world’s second-largest tropical rainforest. The report highlights various species, including previously undocumented mammals, birds, and arachnids, and emphasizes the importance of local knowledge regarding these discoveries.
