New Study Suggests Increasing Fruit and Vegetable Intake May Lower Depression Risk

A comprehensive new twin study indicates that increased consumption of fruits and vegetables could potentially reduce the risk of depression over time. Conducted by researchers at the University of New South Wales, the study analyzed dietary and mood data from 3,483 individuals aged 45 and older across the USA, Australia, Denmark, and Sweden. Results showed a moderate difference in depression symptoms based on fruit and vegetable intake. Although causation cannot be established, the findings suggest a correlation, indicating that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables may benefit mental health.
