New Tax Amendments Proposed by PASOK-KINAL to Address Bank Profits and Short-Term Rentals
The President of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis, along with the opposition’s MPs, has proposed two amendments aimed at taxing bank profits and regulating short-term rentals. These amendments seek a 5% extraordinary tax on banks’ pre-tax profits exceeding €400 million for the years 2023-2024, as well as a temporary suspension of new residency permits for permanent investors in certain urban areas and islands. The proposal emphasizes social equity and aims to tackle the housing crisis in Athens.
