A new agreement between unions and employer groups regarding unemployment insurance has been approved by the French government, set to take effect in January. It raises the age limits for senior job seekers to qualify for extended benefits by two years. While major unions like CFDT, FO, and CFTC signed the agreement, CGT and CFE-CGC did not. The government confirmed that the requirement for a minimum of five months of work in the last two years to apply for unemployment insurance will not be enacted due to legislative needs.
