NHS to Introduce Mounjaro Weight-Loss Drug Over 12 Years

The NHS in England is set to roll out the weight-loss drug Mounjaro, but the full implementation may take up to 12 years. Recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), it will initially be offered to patients with a BMI over 35 and obesity-related health issues. While it aims to benefit approximately 3.4 million people, concerns about overwhelming NHS services have led to a phased approach. Initial availability will be limited to specialist weight-management services, with broader access expected from June 2024.
