French sailor Nicolas Lunven aboard Holcim-PRB has established a new record for solo monohull sailing, covering 546.60 nautical miles (1,012.3 km) from the north of Portugal between Tuesday and Wednesday. His strategic westward route to North Africa propelled him from 38th to 5th place in the rankings, with an average speed of 22.66 knots (41 km/h). This achievement surpasses Thomas Ruyant’s previous record for a solo race and showcases Lunven’s competitive prowess as he navigates his first solo round-the-world journey.
