Nissan Announces Global Job Cuts Amidst Sales Decline
Nissan has announced it will cut 9,000 jobs worldwide and reduce its production capacity by 20% to adapt to plummeting sales. The decision comes after the company reported unexpected net losses of 9.3 billion yen (approximately 56 million euros) for the second quarter of the fiscal year. Nissan’s revenue also dropped by 5% year-on-year, leading the automaker to revise its forecasts significantly downward. The company cited the urgent need to improve performance and resilience in a challenging market environment as the driving factor behind these measures.
