With changing weather patterns, northern European waterfowl are migrating to the lakes of Western Macedonia for the winter. According to Nikos Panagiotopoulos, head of wildlife care at the Caspian Environmental Protection Society, the birds embark on a long journey that typically lasts two to three days, utilizing nighttime navigation by stars and the moon to reach their destination without losing their way.
