La Guardia Civil has apprehended Luis Martínez Calleja, a notorious criminal listed among Spain’s ten most-wanted fugitives. He was arrested on a property in southern Madrid, more than a decade after escaping from prison during a hospital transfer in March 2014. Martínez Calleja was serving time for multiple burglary offenses and has seven active legal charges due to his flight from justice. His capture marks the second recent arrest since a public campaign launched by police last week, aimed at encouraging citizen assistance in locating fugitives.
