Nurse’s Death Raises Concerns Over Weight-Loss Drug Mounjaro
The death of 58-year-old nurse Susan McGowan in the UK has been linked to the weight-loss drug tirzepatide, known as Mounjaro. After taking two low-dose injections, McGowan experienced severe health complications, leading to multiple organ failure. Her demise is believed to be the first officially recorded death associated with the drug in the UK since its NHS approval in 2023. While the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) maintains that the benefits of such drugs outweigh the risks, this case underscores growing concerns about the safety of new weight-loss medications.
