Over 225,000 Dangerous Toys Destroyed in France in 2023, Report Reveals
A report from France’s Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) indicates that over 225,000 non-compliant and dangerous toys were destroyed in 2023, up 22% from the previous year. Inspections were conducted at more than 2,000 establishments, revealing a consistent rate of compliance issues among non-specialized distributors and online marketplaces. Notably, 47% of toys tested showed non-conformities, with 19% classified as dangerous, particularly those containing small parts, posing suffocation risks for children under three years old.
