Over 528,000 Killed in Syrian Civil War Since 2011, Reports Syrian Observatory
The Syrian Civil War has resulted in the deaths of at least 528,500 people since its inception in 2011, with over 181,939 civilians among the victims, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). The report highlights that the toll includes at least 15,207 women and 25,284 children. In 2024 alone, 6,777 people have died, including 3,598 civilians. The war, sparked by the brutal repression of pro-democracy protests by Bashar al-Assad’s regime, has been complicated by international interventions and jihadist incursions.
