Tai and Naiyahmi Yasharahyalah, a couple from Birmingham, have been convicted for the neglect and death of their son, Abiyah, who was buried in their backyard. Their unorthodox belief system rejected mainstream medicine, leading to severe malnutrition and multiple health issues for the child. Abiyah, who died in 2020, was found exhumed in 2022 after police were alerted. The couple maintained that Abiyah would be reincarnated, but their extreme values ultimately resulted in tragedy. Both were described as living off-grid with self-created laws and practices that ignored their child’s basic health needs.
