Parents Sentenced for Roles in Belgrade School Shooting

The parents of a 13-year-old boy who carried out a mass shooting at a primary school in Belgrade have been sentenced. Vladimir Kecmanović received 14-and-a-half years for endangering public safety, while Miljana Kecmanović was sentenced to three years for neglecting a minor. The attack in May 2023 resulted in the deaths of nine children and a caretaker. The boy, referred to as KK, cannot be tried due to his age and has been held in a psychiatric institution since the incident. The trial was held behind closed doors, highlighting the tragedy’s impact on the community.
