Paris Opera Ballet Dancers Suspend Strike Amid Ongoing Negotiations
Ballet dancers at the Paris Opera suspended their strike on December 11 while ensuring evening performances would proceed. The strike, initiated by the CGT union over inadequate compensation for preparation time, led to the cancellation of several shows, including ‘Paquita’ and ‘Play’. Although discussions with management have resumed, the CGT warns that the strike notice remains in effect as they seek recognition for dancers’ work time. Meanwhile, the union Sud has filed a new strike notice for the end of December regarding staffing issues.
