The University of the Aegean’s Geography Department hosted a workshop on participatory planning for island regions and small towns at the Lesvos Chamber of Commerce. Collaborating with the Autonomous University of Barcelona’s Environmental Science Institute and Heinrich Böll Foundation, the event explored the importance and tools of participatory design. Professor Angelos Varvarousis emphasized its role in enhancing citizen resilience, sustainability, and quality of life. The interactive workshop aimed to engage local residents in co-developing planning proposals that address their needs and the unique challenges of island environments.
