Passenger Traffic Jumps 8.1% at Alexandroupolis Airport Amid Rising Demand

The Civil Aviation Authority reports an 8.1% increase in passenger traffic across its 24 managed airports for the January to November 2024 period compared to 2023. Alexandroupolis’ Demokritos Airport outpaced the national average with a 9.3% increase, serving over 300,000 passengers. Airport manager Stelios Zantanidis highlighted the growing interest in the region, primarily due to regular flights to Athens. Plans for summer 2025 include potential connections to two or three foreign airports, responding to heightened demand.
