Peru Closes Three-Quarters of Ports Due to Dangerous Waves

In response to severe waves affecting its coastline, Peru has closed three-quarters of its ports. Beaches are also shut down, and fishing boats are barred from going out to sea for safety reasons. The chief of Hydrography and Navigation for Peru’s Navy, Enrique Varea, attributes these dangerous conditions to persistent winds originating from the United States.
