Laurent Valière highlights ‘Nismet’, an upcoming series by French director Philippe Faucon, inspired by the true story of a girl named Nismet and her mother in Marseille. The narrative focuses on Nismet’s fight against her abusive stepfather. The project was developed collaboratively with the real-life Nismet and stars emerging actress Emma Boulanouar. The series has already received accolades, winning the Best Fiction prize at the La Rochelle festival, and is set to air on Arte in 2025.
