Prime Minister Responds to Calls for Swift Compensation for Post Office Scandal Victims
Prime Minister’s spokesman confirmed that Sir Keir Starmer has replied to Sir Alan Bates, who has pleaded for quicker compensation for victims of the Post Office scandal. Bates, representing the Justice for Subpostmasters Alliance, emphasized the urgency for the government to finalize compensation by March 2025. This follows the government’s allocation of £1.8 billion for impacted individuals due to the faulty Horizon IT system, which led to wrongful prosecutions. While some compensation has been disbursed, campaigners argue that delays persist, leaving many, including former sub-postmasters, still awaiting justice and financial reparations.
