A group of pro-Russian hackers, NoName057(016), targeted multiple French cities, departments, and institutions with cyberattacks on December 31 and January 1, rendering many websites inaccessible. The Paris public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the attacks, which employed a denial-of-service (DDoS) method. French mayors, including Christian Estrosi of Nice, have announced intentions to file complaints. The group claims these actions were in retaliation for France’s support of Ukraine in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
