ProRail Strike Disrupts Train Services in Northern Netherlands
A strike by ProRail employees has halted train services in Northern Holland and parts of Flevoland and Utrecht, leaving stations unusually quiet. Commuters were reportedly well-informed about the disruptions and travel remained manageable on the roads. The strike results from stalled negotiations over a proposed 13% wage increase, which ProRail deems unrealistic, offering instead an 8% raise. Further walkouts are scheduled for Friday in the Utrecht and Amersfoort areas, with additional strikes planned for next week as labor tensions continue.
