The municipality of Sfakia is working with the region of Crete to submit a nomination for Sfakian cheese pie to be included in UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage. Mayor Giannis Zervos expressed enthusiasm for preserving the traditional recipe and ingredients passed down through generations, aiming for Sfakian pie to gain international recognition and promote the region.
