Putin Signs Law to Cancel Debts for New Recruits in Ukraine War

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that eliminates debts for new military recruits who join the army to fight in Ukraine. The law allows for the cancellation of up to 10 million rubles (approximately $95,835) in overdue debts for those who sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense for at least a year, effective December 1. This measure aims to recruit more men by offering substantial financial incentives, thereby avoiding another round of general mobilization, which previously led to a mass exodus from Russia.
