Ralph Lauren Wins Major Intellectual Property Cases in China
Ralph Lauren has achieved significant legal victories against Chinese companies accused of copyright infringement regarding its trademark identity. The Shanghai Intellectual Property Court ruled in favor of Ralph Lauren, stating that unauthorized use of the brand’s trademarks, including ‘POLO,’ ‘POLO BY RALPH LAUREN,’ and ‘POLO RALPH LAUREN,’ could mislead consumers about product origins. The court imposed fines totaling 20 million yuan (approximately $2.61 million) on the Chinese firms, marking one of the highest compensation awards in copyright theft cases in China.
