Record Number of Children Affected by Conflict Worldwide, Warns UNICEF

According to UNICEF, over 473 million children are living in conflict zones, the highest number since World War II. This represents nearly 19% of all children globally, double the rate from the 1990s. Conditions for these children are dire, with many facing malnutrition, lack of education, and violence. UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell described 2024 as one of the worst years for affected children, highlighting the severe impacts of ongoing conflicts, particularly in regions like Gaza, Ukraine, and Haiti.
