More than 6,000 applicants from 140 countries are set to receive Irish citizenship at ceremonies in Killarney, Co Kerry. This year marks a record with over 30,000 citizenship decisions made, a significant increase from 20,000 in 2023. The Department of Justice has streamlined the application process through digitization, aiming for faster decisions, especially for residency-based applications. Minister for Justice Helen McEntee encouraged new citizens to enrich Ireland’s cultural and economic landscape.
