Record Viewership for Paris Olympics, Says Thomas Bach
Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, announced that the Paris Olympics were the most watched in history, with around five billion viewers globally. An independent study revealed that each viewer watched an average of nine hours, marking a 20% increase from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In France, 95% of the potential audience engaged with the games, averaging 24 hours of viewing. Bach highlighted significant growth in social media interactions and declared the Olympics as ushering in a ‘new era’ for the event ahead of his departure next year.
