Severe weather events included record-breaking temperatures in India and prolonged cyclonic storms in the Philippines. Red Cross director Harm Goossens highlighted the growing impact of climate change on both developing nations and Europe, stressing the organization’s need for better preparedness and resources. A special fundraising initiative has since raised over one million euros for disaster relief efforts.
