Late yesterday, a distress signal from a fiberglass boat carrying 28 migrants off the southern tip of Cape Tainaro prompted a swift rescue by a Liberian-flagged tanker. The migrants, all adult males from Bangladesh, were transported safely to Kalamata port, where they are being temporarily housed. Authorities are currently documenting their information and investigating potential involvement in human trafficking. Following official procedures, the migrants will be moved to an organized shelter inland.
