On Tuesday, a rescue operation approximately 38 nautical miles south of Gavdos resulted in the recovery of 19 migrants from a cargo ship registered under the Marshall Islands. The group comprised 16 Syrians and 3 Sudanese, including one woman, and was escorted by the Greek Coast Guard. They were transported to the port of Kokkinos Pyrgos in Heraklion later that afternoon.
