Residents in Limbo Over Defective Apartments Risking Lives and Investments

Many apartment owners in Dublin, like Andrew Prior and Liam Egan, face dire consequences from extensive fire safety and structural defects in their properties. Despite having paid tens of thousands in management fees for repairs, they struggle to sell their apartments, with banks deeming lending too risky. A report revealed that 50% to 80% of apartments built between 1991 and 2013 show defects, potentially costing €1.5 billion to €2.5 billion for remediation. Although the government is set to provide some assistance, experts warn it could take years to resolve these critical safety issues.
