The ‘Jamalas’ tradition, a form of folk theater, is being revived in Neos Sidirochori, Rodopi, by students of the Artistic Gymnasium. Directed by Giannis Voultsidis, the performance features a conflict between old and new values represented through characters that symbolize money and love. Students, dressed in traditional costumes, performed across the village, culminating in a celebratory gathering in the square. The cultural significance of this tradition, passed down through generations, emphasizes its importance beyond mere entertainment.
