Rising Antisemitism: Concerns Following Attacks on Israeli Football Fans in Amsterdam
Robert Ejnes, executive director of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France, expressed shock and anger over the violent attacks on Israeli football supporters in Amsterdam following the Europa League match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv. He highlighted that such incidents are unfortunately not surprising, linking them to a rise in antisemitism since the October 7 Hamas attacks. Ejnes criticized the inadequate response from Dutch police, despite their earlier assurances of heightened vigilance around the match, emphasizing the increasing insecurity for Jewish communities across Europe.
