Rising Violence and Humanitarian Crisis in Northern Syria as Aleppo Falls to Rebels
The humanitarian situation in northern Syria is worsening as Aleppo falls to rebel forces after intense fighting. Over 115,000 people have been displaced in Idleb and northern Aleppo, according to David Carden, the UN’s regional humanitarian coordinator. Kurdish authorities face urgent needs for humanitarian aid amid the influx of displaced individuals. Additionally, armed groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham have advanced towards Hama, prompting violent clashes with Syrian army forces. The recent conflict has resulted in 602 deaths within a week, including 104 civilians, marking the most significant violence since 2020.
