Roermond Implements Sound Barrier for Badger Protection During Carnaval Song Contest
As part of the Limburg Vastelaovesleedjes Konkoer (LVK) 2024, a sound barrier will be built to protect a local badger family during the carnival song contest in Roermond. The wall, constructed from bales of paper, aims to shield the badgers from noise and light disturbances. The initiative has received approval from ecologists and animal protection groups, enabling the event to proceed responsibly while keeping wildlife in mind. The contest is scheduled for February 14th at a historic Philips factory, attracting around 7,500 attendees annually.
