RTÉ’s Director General Kevin Bakhurst expressed frustration over the delay in government approval for the organization’s Voluntary Exit Programme, originally submitted in early spring. Despite approval from the Department of Media, the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform has yet to finalize the plan. Bakhurst highlighted that the delay has incurred significant costs, estimating losses of several million euro this year. He indicated that discussions regarding the scheme may be postponed until after the upcoming election, although making the exit scheme a priority remains crucial for RTÉ’s financial management.
