Russia and Ukraine Exchange Over 300 Prisoners of War Ahead of New Year’s Eve
In a prisoner swap facilitated by the United Arab Emirates, Russia and Ukraine exchanged more than 300 war prisoners on December 30. The Russian defense ministry confirmed the return of 150 servicemen, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Ukraine received 189 individuals, including soldiers and civilians. This exchange highlights one of the few areas of cooperation between the two nations amid ongoing conflict since February 2022. Zelensky has emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to freeing all individuals from Russian captivity.
