Russian Army Official Igor Kirillov Killed in Moscow Explosion

Igor Kirillov, commander of Russian nuclear, chemical, and biological defense forces, was killed in an explosion from a parked scooter near a residential building in Moscow on December 17. The blast, attributed to a remote-controlled explosive device, also killed his assistant and caused significant damage to the building. This incident marks a rare occurrence as a high-ranking military official has not been killed on Russian soil since the start of the Ukraine war in February 2022. Russian authorities are treating the event as a terrorist act.
