The Russian investigative body has opened an inquiry into the sinking of the cargo ship ‘Ursa Major’ for alleged maritime safety violations. After an explosion in the engine room, two out of 16 crew members are missing. Fourteen sailors were rescued and taken to Cartagena, Spain. The ship, part of a defense ministry-dependent company, had been under US sanctions since May 2022 due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
