Russian Frigate with Hypersonic Missiles Traverses English Channel
The Russian frigate Admiral Golovko, equipped with hypersonic Zircon missiles, recently transited the English Channel, closely monitored by British and Dutch naval forces. This marked the ship’s first long voyage after its deployment in December. The Russian Navy conducted exercises during the passage, including anti-terror drills and evasion maneuvers. International maritime laws permit such transits, and the heightened vigilance reflects geopolitical tensions. The Zircon missiles, which can travel at speeds of up to 10,000 km/h and have a range of 900 kilometers, enhance Russia’s naval capabilities, particularly in regional conflicts.
