Russian Oil Tankers Run Aground Near Crimea, Environmental Risks Uncertain

Two Russian oil tankers, Volgoneft-239 and Volgoneft-212, have run aground near the annexed Crimean Peninsula. One vessel hit a sandbank while the other ran aground off the coast, prompting concerns about potential environmental damage. Both ships were carrying approximately 4,500 tons of heating oil. Emergency services reported the evacuation of crew members, including one fatality, as authorities confirmed leakage of oil into the sea. The incident occurred in the Kerch Strait, amid rough seas.
