Saudi Riyad Hijab Named Prime Minister of Syria During Transitional Period
The French newspaper Le Figaro reports that Riyad Hijab will become the Prime Minister of Syria during a transitional period, leading a transitional government. This means the United States will not have to deal with Muhammad al-Julani, the leader of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, considered a terrorist. Hijab, a former prime minister who defected from Bashar al-Assad’s regime, has held various political positions and expressed discontent with international arrangements favoring the Assad government.
