Scientists Develop Urine Test for Early Detection of Lung Cancer
Researchers in the UK have created the world’s first urine test that may indicate early signs of lung cancer. The test, which has successfully been trialed in mice, aims to detect the presence of proteins released by ‘zombie cells,’ which are aged cells that thrive without dividing and can promote cancer growth. With hopes to commence human clinical trials soon, the team seeks to provide doctors with a cost-effective alternative for identifying cancer signs months or even years before symptoms arise.
