Scottish Man Sentenced for Manufacturing Dangerous Homemade Explosives in Ireland

Ivan Gilder, a 63-year-old Scottish national, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for manufacturing highly dangerous homemade explosives at his isolated home in Co Kerry, Ireland. During a raid by the Garda Special Detective Unit, authorities discovered a large cache of explosives made from household products, including enough to create two car bombs. Gilder, who claimed ignorance of the legality of his actions, was noted for his alarming expertise in bomb-making. His son also received a suspended sentence for related charges. Gilder is mandated to engage with community mental health services during probation.
