Senate Launches Investigation into Nestlé Waters Scandal
The French Senate is initiating a parliamentary investigation into allegations of fraud by Nestlé Waters regarding the treatment of spring water at its Vosges facilities. Ecologist Senator Antoinette Guhl, part of the inquiry, highlights that the company has already been fined €2 million, though the estimated cost of the fraud is much higher at €3 billion. Guhl emphasized the necessity for transparency, urging both the company and the state to be accountable to consumers. The investigation aims to ensure that public health takes precedence over economic interests, with hearings expected to commence in January.
